Jarrod Bowen harshly punished as Keith Hackett reviews West Ham footage

Jarrod Bowen was issued a yellow card in West Ham United's win over Bolton Wanderers, but he will not care one bit.

The England international struck twice at the Toughsheet Community Stadium as West Ham edged a thriller 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Ethan Erhahon cancelled out the first of Bowen's goals, before Ruben Rodrigues put Bolton in front from the penalty spot.

Konstantinos Mavropanos levelled before the break, though, profiting from a brilliant piece of work from Arne Engels.

Bowen had the final say as he found a way past Gavin Bazunu 13 minutes from time.

Bowen jumped over the advertising board at the Toughsheet Community Stadium after scoring what proved to be the winner.

Notably, however, Bowen did not jump into the away section as there was still a gap between himself and the fans.

It all seemed to be innocent enough, with Bowen sharing a moment with the travelling West Ham fans.

But Webb reached into his pocket, with Hackett putting that down to the winger delaying the restart.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Hackett said he felt the decision was harsh, even if it ultimately did not matter.

"The referee will have yellow carded Bowen for delaying the restart," Hackett said.

"I do believe that David Webb could have managed this situation without resorting to a yellow card."

Bowen was superb in Tuesday's contest, although he was not even necessarily West Ham's best player against Bolton.

Bolton's second goal, which put them 2-1 ahead, came via a Ruben Rodrigues penalty.

Kyle Walker-Peters caught Kyliane Dong inside the penalty box and Webb pointed to the spot.

Asked for his views on the pen after reviewing footage from the game, former PGMOL chief Hackett said: "It's a careless challenge by Walker-Peters.

"The referee is in a good position and has a clear view of the incident.

"From what I've seen, this is the correct decision by Webb to point to the spot."
