‘West Ham to raise funds for Dean Huijsen’ amid long-term transfer update
West Ham could work to complete a deal to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth in the summer.
The Hammers are in desperate need of a centre-back moving forward as Graham Potter continues to utilise a back three.
This has seen the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Konstantinos Mavropanos be utilised at the back in what has been a difficult campaign at the London Stadium.
As a result, signing a central defender could prove to be a requirement in the summer for the English head coach with Huijsen potentially set to be a key target.

West ham could move to sign Huijsen from Bournemouth
The Spain international has been simply superb since moving to the Vitality from Juventus in the summer and has caught the eye in the Premier League.
This has seen the 19-year-old be linked with a number of clubs away from the Cherries, despite a positive season under Andoni Iraola on the south coast.
This could see the Hammers look to step in and bring the young defender in, especially if Jean-Clair Todibo was to depart at the end of his loan spell.
Former Irons midfielder Martin Allen has picked out the Huijsen as his dream defensive signing in East London ahead of the summer window.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “I saw an absolutely superb centre-back playing for Bournemouth against West Ham, Dean Huijsen.
“He is quick, very good in the air and good in possession. I imagine there’s going to be lots of clubs in the summer trying to sign him and put him on a long contract.
“He is a top defender, but could West Ham put together enough money to sign him?
“As a long-term acquisition he would be superb for West Ham for sure.“

Huijsen could transform West Ham under Potter
The teenage sensation has been superb this campaign, playing a key role in an excellent season for the Cherries under Iraola.
Huijsen has a £50million release clause, which would make him the Hammers’ record signing but could prove to be worth every penny if he reaches his undoubted potential.
Year | Name | From | Fee | |
1. | 2019/20 | Sebastien Haller | Eintracht Frankfurt | £42m |
2. | 2024/25 | Max Kilman | Wolves | £40m |
3. | 2023/24 | Mohammed Kudus | Ajax | £36m |
4. | 2022/23 | Lucas Paqueta | Lyon | £36m |
5. | 2022/23 | Gianluca Scamacca | Sassuolo | £33m |
If the Hammers could tempt the former Roma loanee to the London Stadium, there is every chance that Potter could aid his development.
Alongside Max Kilman at the back, there is no reason why the Irons couldn’t form a positive backline to give them a boost moving forward into a new season.
