Frank McAvennie: Alexandre Lacazette ‘won’t fit’ West Ham system
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
West Ham have expressed an interest in signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer but Frank McAvennie doesn’t want to see it happen.
The 30-year-old Frenchman is out of contract at The Emirates at the end of this season and there appears to be something of a stalemate between him and the club.
TEAMtalk reported that the Irons were ready to offer him a deal for next season although the reports have gone no further since.

Ex-Hammers striker McAvennie isn’t convinced that Lacazette is the right man for his former club as the system won’t suit his style.
“Not for me,” McAvennie said when asked about the prospects of signing the Frenchman exclusively to West Ham Zone. “He’s in a team with Arsenal where they’re trying to move up.
“I’ve not got a problem with his talent and his movement is great but I just think David Moyes like to press and I don’t know if he can do that.
“He scores goals but he won’t fit in how West Ham play, getting about people and getting in their face; he won’t do that.”

His personal goal-scoring season has been far below his previous double-figure standards in front of goal with just four to his name but he does have seven assists for his Arsenal teammates.
He has helped Mikel Arteta’s side to fourth in the Premier League where they look set to beat the Hammers to the Champions League qualification spot.
In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports pundit thinks this out of form England ace could be a potential target for the Irons.
