Glen Johnson thinks West Ham could sign Marcus Rashford this summer

Glen Johnson believes West Ham could sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer, saying ‘everything is a possibility’ while speaking to BettingOdds.com.

The England winger is reportedly considering his options at Old Trafford are a poor season with a lack of regular game time, with 90min reporting that West Ham were among the interested parties.

While many saw that as an unrealistic landing spot for the 24-year-old, former Hammer Johnson thinks that David Moyes’ side are knocking on the door now with the better teams in the country and that means you can’t rule out the transfer happening.

“If Marcus Rashford was playing the way he could play then this wouldn’t even be a conversation as he’d be starting for Manchester United every week,” he said.

“I think he’s a great player. West Ham are a team now that are beginning to knock on the door so in that case everything’s a possibility.”

Big money

Never say never in football, but this deal seems like it would be really, really difficult to do if Rashford even leaves to begin with.

He currently has a year remaining on his deal at Man United, plus the club have an option for an extra year extension, and he is said to be on big wages.

That would immediately make him the Hammers’ highest earner and with the club desperate to keep hold of Declan Rice in the long-run, they’ll likely prefer putting that money towards their current star man.

Rashford’s ability isn’t in question despite his poor form, with Dwight Yorke once labelling him a ‘serious baller‘ and it may just be a fresh environment that he needs.

He’d immediately improve the squad and if there’s any hope that a deal can be done then West Ham should be doing all they can to get it over the line.
