Tim Steidten can save his job at West Ham by signing ‘Intelligent’ forward

West Ham sporting director Tim Steidten is under severe pressure at the London Stadium but could save his job by signing an “intelligent” forward.

The Hammers bought nine first-team players for a total of approximately £120million in the summer but find themselves in 14th place in the Premier League.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law (5 January) reported that the Irons are interested in a move for Hwang Hee-Chan, a player once labelled as “intelligent” by former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil [Express and Star, 23 September 2023].

The German could revive his career in East London with a January move for the South Korean attacker.

Hwang would be a quality signing for West Ham

The 28-year-old has struggled to make an impact this season but does have two goals in his last two matches against Manchester United and Tottenham.

In fairness to the Wolves man, the team have struggled to score goals and he has started just three times in the league this campaign.

He may just need a change of scenery to thrive again, he has scored 22 goals and assisted five in 99 league matches for the Midlands club since his move from RB Leipzig.

The Hammers are in desperate need of attacking talent with Michael Antonio ruled out for the rest of the season and Jarrod Bowen also on the treatment table.

Steiden’s signings have not impressed at the London Stadium, with Niclas Fullkrug, Luiz Guilherme, and Cysensio Summerville all struggling to make an impact.

Julen Lopetegui desperately needs some goals from his side as he tries to save his job in the dugout after a poor run of form.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are eyeing a move for an out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder.
