Rothschild & Co update emerges at West Ham United amid new investment speculation

West Ham United chief Karren Brady has not enlisted the help of Rothschild and CO to find new investment in the club, according to Hammers News.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (16 June) that a senior source at the London Stadium has refuted the suggestion that the Hammers have enlisted the help of the advisors to find new investors this summer.

Reports had emerged suggesting the Irons were one of six Premier League clubs using the company to try and secure fresh funding to strengthen Julen Lopetegui’s squad without breaching profit and sustainability regulations [The Sun, 13 June].

Discussing the speculation, the source said: “It’s not true that Karren has enlisted Rothschild and Co to help find new investment for West Ham.

“Even if you get new investment, under the new rule of wages-to-turnover – and wages INCLUDES amortisation of transfers – you can’t use the money.”

Have West Ham United looked for new investment for summer transfer push?

Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are eager to transform this West Ham squad between now and the end of the transfer window and while they’ve already made good progress, that sort of activity will always require heavy spending.

The Irons are in an excellent position to do that without any new investment, but they will be eager to find any help they can as they look to avoid any potential point deductions that could come with a PSR breach.

However, it appears that reports linking the Hammers with Rothschild and CO may have been slightly premature. If these talks have taken place, it doesn’t seem to be in an attempt to help Lopetegui’s side navigate financial fair play.

Hopefully, regardless of the nature of the relationship with the firm, the Hammers will be able to navigate the Premier League’s restrictions but also ensure they provide the former Real Madrid manager with a competitive squad.
