West Ham United's signing of Luis Guilherme is set to kick start a summer spending spree at the London Stadium, according to the Evening Standard.

The outlet reported on Thursday (13 June) that technical director Tim Steidten plans to significantly overhaul the playing squad in East London this summer ahead of Julen Lopetegeui's first season in charge.

Lopetegui and Steidten have already confirmed their first arrival of the summer window, with Guilherme joining the Hammers' ranks from Palmeiras for an initial £20million fee, with a potential £6million to be paid in add-ons.

The Irons could want as many as six new signings, with a new striker, right-back and at least another centre-half all high on their priority list.

Will West Ham United sign anyone else after Luis Guilherme?

It may have taken longer than most initially expected, but West Ham are finally up and running this summer and it doesn't appear as though either Lopetegui or Steidten have any desire to slow down any time soon.

While this side achieved some special things under the management of David Moyes, they did finish this season poorly and it was clear in the final weeks of the campaign that several players needed to move in and out.

Although very few players have yet departed the London Stadium, several have been linked with moves away. It would not be a surprise to see those exits completed once the international tournaments come to an end.

If a number of players depart, they will need to be replaced and that can quite quickly become a squad overhaul. While some managers would be scared about changing too much, that doesn't appear to be an issue for Lopetegui.

Hopefully, he and Steidten will be able to secure the signature of every one of their targets before the season gets underway.
