West Ham will hope Liverpool listen closely to Steven Gerrard as Jarrod Bowen move talked down

West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen has been touted as a target for Liverpool once again, but Steven Gerrard does not believe he is the right fit.

The England international has been a consistent force for the Hammers ever since coming through the doors from Hull City in 2020.

In seven seasons at the London Stadium, the 29-year-old has been a force for goals in claret and blue, so he has attracted interest as a result.

His family ties have helped the Irons to keep hold of their skipper, but the upcoming summer window may be a step too far.

Bowen has been linked with a move to Liverpool, although Gerrard isn’t totally sold on a potential Anfield switch for the forward.

Steven Gerrard doesn’t want Jarrod Bowen at Liverpool

The secret is out that Mohamed Salah will leave Merseyside at the end of the season, bringing the curtain down on a nine-year spell with the Reds.

He has easily been one of, if not the best, Premier League players in that period after making a move to L4 from Roma in 2017.

The Egypt international has now decided to depart Anfield, leaving many to question who Arne Slot could sign to replace him.

That has sparked immediate questions over the future of Bowen and whether he could be the man for Liverpool next season, as visualised by Sofascore.

Despite that, Reds legend Gerrard has revealed that he doesn’t see the West Ham star as good enough to be the next in line to Salah.

Speaking to TNT Sports on Wednesday, he said: “I really like Bowen and think he is a top player, but I am not sure he is at Salah’s level to replace him.”

West Ham may be fearful of losing Bowen to Liverpool, but now have to hope the Anfield club listens to one of its favourite sons as the summer window approaches.

West Ham need Gerrard’s thoughts on Bowen to be heard

The relegation battle has plenty of time remaining, and there is still every chance that the Hammers avoid a drop to the Championship.

They will need Bowen to be at his best throughout the season and, hopefully, for many years to come.

If they are to keep hold of their skipper, they need Liverpool to agree with Gerrard and steer clear of an approach for the Englishman.

The forward will certainly attract interest from elsewhere, but that may be easier to navigate than the potential of an Anfield switch.

It will be interesting to see what Slot and Co. do this summer, but West Ham will hope it won’t involve swapping Salah for Bowen.
