West Ham United bid lodged for Ismail Badjie as realistic price tag set

West Ham United have reportedly already lodged a bid for winger Ismail Badjie ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old is not exactly a household name, having so far spent his career with German side Osnabrucker SC.

Osnabrucker play in the third tier of German football, but they are well clear at the summit and are on course for promotion to 2.Bundesliga.

Badjie has eight goals and one assist in 29 league outings this term, with more eyes now set to be on the attacker.

And weeks out from the summer transfer window opening, an update has emerged on West Ham’s surprise interest.

West Ham learn price it will take to sign Ismail Badjie

West Ham are still deep in a Premier League relegation dogfight, making any transfer plans hard to put in place.

The Hammers have no idea which type of market they will be shopping in yet, with that dependent on which division they are competing in come August.

Ismail Badjie, what we know

While is difficult to get too excited about links with unknown winger Badjie, he is clearly doing something right.

According to Deich Stube, West Ham have already lodged a bid for the Gambian, as have Bundesliga pair Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The fact that two German sides are lingering is pretty telling, as they clearly like what they see from this emerging gem.

The report adds that Osnabruck want a transfer fee in the low millions, which given this is in Euros suggests anything in excess of £866,000.

It must be said that is a reasonable outlay on any player in the modern day, especially one who is already attracting a fair bit of interest.

Niclas Fullkrug could be on his way to Gladbach

Also in the same report, it indicates Gladbach are not all that confident of landing Badjie in the summer window.

However, it goes on to mention how the German side’s interest in West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug looks more promising.

This is due to West Ham being eager to get the flop striker off their books, whether for a very small fee or even on a free.

It appears Fullkrug’s reputation has yet to really be impacted in his home country, with Gladbach certainly not alone in showing an interest.

Time will tell on that front, as indeed it will with Badgie.
