West Ham remain ‘very interested’ in Natan after winter pursuit, discount now mooted

West Ham United failed to secure the transfer of defender Natan in the recent winter window, but he could yet come to East London.

The Hammers will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season by boosting the quality within the ranks.

Whether that is to stave off another relegation fight or push for promotion from the Championship remains to be seen.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been in excellent form since 2026, and much of that has come down to solid additions from that aforementioned winter window.

Natan, who has played 29 time in La Liga this season, could have signed for West Ham back then, but the Irons are not dropping their interest, with a discount on their winter bid now mooted.

What has been said about a discounted price for Natan?

In the winter window, West Ham sent a £34.6million bid for Natan. However, all of their advances were ultimately rejected.

Now, ahead of the summer window, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo has shared that those around Natan believe a bid around £25.9m could be enough to sign him from Real Betis.

The report also notes that West Ham are still “very interested” in the Brazilian defender. At that discounted price, the Irons could be tempted to make another move for the 25-year-old defender.

As it stands, Axel Disasi is to return to Chelsea, but Nuno will no doubt be looking to keep the Frenchman at London Stadium.

Additionally, Max Kilman has failed to impress, and that could see him head out the exit door. The Englishman is left-footed, similarly to Natan, and it could be a like-for-like swap in West Ham’s squad.

However, as expected, the Hammers’ chances of landing any deal will fall on whether they remain a Premier League club ahead of next season.

How could West Ham tempt Natan to make a Premier League switch?

Unfortunately, for West Ham, it is said that Natan prefers staying in La Liga, and Barcelona have been touted as a potential buyer as well.

However, his qualities as a defender suggest he would be better suited to a team such as the Hammers.

His high aerial success rate, accompanied by his frequent clearances per game, suggests that Natan thrives in high-volume defensive situations.

Joining the Hammers would certainly make him stand out in that regard, as he would have the attributes to deal with what comes his way.

If West Ham can present that to the player and convince him it is the right move to further his reputation, with potential eyes on a first Brazil call-up, it could give them an advantage.
