West Ham near Jarrod Bowen D-Day as transfer figure revelation emerges

West Ham United would reportedly let Jarrod Bowen leave for around £50million.

Since arriving at the London Stadium from Hull City in 2020, the forward has become a talismanic figure, inspiring them to success in the Premier League and in Europe.

He has registered 17 goal contributions in all competitions this season, proving his influence isn’t waning quite yet, but there are concerns he could leave if the Hammers go down.

Bowen has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, but, ever the consummate professional, he has kept his focus solely on leading the club away from the relegation zone.

With just five matches to go, West Ham have it all to do if they’re to achieve safety. They will, perhaps for the last time, also heavily rely on their talisman to get them across the line.

Jarrod Bowen future depends on relegation fate

That is because a report from the Daily Mail has revealed the rough amount the Hammers would demand for the 29-year-old were they to drop into the Championship.

Bowen has been named as one of the 22 most likely transfers to take place during the summer, with the ace to attract no shortage of interest from clubs across Europe.

Despite his having four years left on his contract, West Ham would demand around £50million for the player most synonymous with their success over recent years.

This, however, appears far too low. Indeed, supporters’ jaws will surely drop over the revelation, because they will know his impact on the club can’t be measured by numbers.

Bowen has scored 64 goals and bagged 49 assists in the Premier League, comfortably making him one of the top-flight’s most consistent performers.

So, why is his price tag so low?

Unfortunately, the brutal reality of relegation dogfights often means that teams are forced to surrender their standout players for much less than they would actually be worth.

Bowen is no exception, despite his years of distinguished service.

It will greatly worry Nuno Espirito Santo that Ally McCoist believes Bowen could replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, but the mere fact that he has been linked shows his quality.

There should be no doubt that he would make an impression at Anfield if he secures the move. Just look at his impressive numbers in the Premier League this season.

He has eight goals and six assists in the top-flight, while also creating 32 chances, nine of which can be classed as “big”. In addition, he has a dribble success just shy of 50 per cent.

Proving his diligence at the other end, Bowen has recorded 100 defensive contributions. As well as scoring goals for West Ham, he’s helping to keep them out, too.

What all of this means is that he is irreplaceable. It is nothing short of a travesty that speculation tipping him to leave could become a reality in just a matter of weeks.

West Ham may have to sacrifice Bowen

Clearly, Nuno has a near-impossible decision to make. Bowen will turn 30 in December, and his value will sadly only begin to nosedive, despite him having years left on his contract.

This will effectively make this summer West Ham’s last chance to claw back a significant fee, likely around the £50m valuation mooted by the Daily Mail.

While it is far below what Bowen should actually command, it would be enough for the club to invest back into the transfer market, allowing them to begin rebuilding.

Supporters may also argue that Nuno should prioritise tying down Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes first, with Manchester United sniffing around for the latter.

But it should not be forgotten that while big-name players have often flittered in and out at the London Stadium, Bowen has been a welcome, rock-solid constant.

No matter what lies ahead, he deserves only the best.
