West Ham may have hand forced over Taty Castellanos as transfer rumours build
West Ham United may already be forced to weigh up selling Taty Castellanos.
The striker has started slowly at the London Stadium and his nine-game scoring drought continued during the 2-0 defeat by Aston Villa before the international break.
He was snapped up from Serie A side Lazio for around £25million in the hope that he could bag the goals that would secure their Premier League safety.
Having netted on his second start for the Hammers, the Argentine ace looked destined to be a hit. Instead, though, he has lost his cutting edge at the worst possible time.
As a result, Castellanos’ future at West Ham looks increasingly uncertain.

West Ham must make quick Taty Castellanos decision
Since scoring against QPR in the FA Cup on January 11, he has netted just twice more for the East London side, leaving Nuno Espirito Santo with a very real problem.
While his work ethic and desire are not in question, he simply hasn’t chosen the quality required to stamp his authority in the Premier League in his 11 appearances to date.
| Statistic | Castellanos 25-26 – Serie A | Castellanos 25-26 – PL |
| Appearances | 11 | 11 |

| xG | 2.02 | 2.67 |
| Shots on target per game | 0.7 | 0.7 |

With just three goals under his belt from 13 matches, Castellanos has given West Ham a very awkward decision to make over his future, just three months after arriving.
According to Bolavip in Brazil, Flamengo are closely monitoring his situation and could swoop during the summer transfer window, having made a new striker a priority.
Indeed, Castellanos’ name will shortly be put forward to head coach Leonardo Jardim, who will make the final decision on whether to make an official approach.

The positive relationship between the two clubs could help to smooth over negotiations, with Flamengo having signed Lucas Paqueta from the Hammers in January.
In the meantime, Nuno could start Callum Wilson ahead of Castellanos.
Castellanos not doing what he was signed for
Unless the ace bucks up his ideas, he could find himself on the move. With only two goals in the top-flight to his name, he is scoring once every 433 minutes – simply not enough.
Look deeper beneath the surface, and there is plenty of cause for concern. Indeed, he takes an average of two shots per game and has already missed four big chances this season.
The fact that he has won only 33 per cent of his total duels, and a lowly 36 per cent in the air, suggests he isn’t doing what West Ham bought him for. He must improve quickly.
The remaining seven games could act as an audition for Castellanos to determine whether he has a future at all at the London Stadium. If not, Flamengo are well placed to pounce.
