West Ham United may be able to cash in on George Earthy as possible fire sale looms
West Ham United may be able to cash in on midfielder George Earthy following new developments about his contract situation.
Earthy has been with West Ham for 16 years, and although hopes were high for the midfielder, he hasn’t really made a breakthrough at the London Stadium.
To date, the 21-year-old has made five appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, including a goal against Luton Town at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Last season, he had a productive loan spell at Championship side Bristol City, who made it to the play-offs before losing in the semi-finals.
He returned to Ashton Gate for the second half of this season but hasn’t set the world alight thus far.
It looked like he would leave West Ham as a free agent, but reports suggest his current deal runs a bit longer than that.

George Earthy extends West Ham contract before loan
According to West Ham insider, ExWHUEmployee, Earthy signed a new deal to extend his stay with the east London outfit until 2027, when he headed back to the Robins at the turn of the year.
As West Ham’s Premier League status is far from secure, that contract extension may have been with a view to keeping him for a Championship campaign, if needed.
| George Earthy’s senior career so far | Appearances |
| West Ham (2023-24 season) | Four |
| Bristol City (2024-25) | 40 |
| West Ham (2025-26) and Bristol City (2025-26) | Nine |
But after playing just eight times for Bristol so far this season, including being an unused substitute in two of their last three games, his future is far from certain.
ExWHUEmployee said, via the West Ham Way, that despite the extension being triggered in his contract, he may not remain with the Irons because of it.

It is said that everything is currently up in the air with the relegation fight ongoing, but Earthy could be sold if they remain in the Premier League.
For now, though, the headline is that his contract will last until at least 2027.
West Ham have £104m problem to deal with
Earthy is young, but he is unlikely to attract a particularly big fee if sold this summer.
West Ham will be in dire need of some big-money sales after revealing a loss of £104.2m for the last financial year. So any fee would be valuable, no matter how small.
The Hammers, who posted a profit of £57.2m in 2023-24 after the sale of Declan Rice, admitted they will need to sell players this summer even if they stay up.

Nuno Espirito Santo is doing a good job of keeping West Ham competitive in this relegation fight.
But his hands will be severely tied if they have to sell top talent such as Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville, Mateus Fernandes, and more.
There is no escaping it. This is a very difficult period for West Ham.
