West Ham have fallen into Chelsea’s Axel Disasi trap as he delays summer decision
West Ham United look to have unfortunately fallen into Chelsea’s sly Axel Disasi trap.
Centre-back Disasi has enjoyed a successful spell at the London Stadium since arriving on loan during the winter window, but his long-term future remains unclear.
The 27-year-old has made nine appearances for the Hammers, starting eight of those, and has played a crucial role in the timely resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Unsurprisingly, the Irons are interested in signing him permanently at the end of the campaign, but they may be about to be frustrated in their efforts.
The latest on Disasi’s future will be a blow to West Ham as they draw up their transfer plans.

Will Axel Disasi join West Ham permanently?
It’s never advisable for supporters to become infatuated with loan players, but the Hammers faithful have certainly fallen head over heels for the five-cap French international.
His impressive form is even more jaw-dropping in light of the fact that he had not played a competitive match since last April before completing his switch to East London.
| Axel Disasi 25-26 (PL) | Statistic |
| Appearances | 7 |
| Starts | 7 |
| Clean sheets | 3 |
| Tackles per game | 0.4 |
| Interceptions per game | 0.9 |
| Clearances per game | 3.3 |

West Ham have plans in place to sign Disasi permanently if and when their Premier League status is secure, but he is in no rush to make a decision over his next move.
Indeed, according to The Athletic, the defender wants to wait until the end of the season before assessing his options, with the Hammers set to be among them.
It is a crying shame that an option to buy wasn’t negotiated in his loan switch. The Blues had no intention of including the clause, hoping that Disasi’s valuation would increase.

After his string of standout performances, it undoubtedly has, leaving West Ham facing the prospect of stumping up a hefty fee to snap him up permanently.
West Ham should stick to their guns
Disasi has arguably also elevated Konstantinos Mavropanos and Jean-Clair Todibo’s displays this season, while his leadership abilities have come to the fore at a crucial time.
It has been a staggering turnaround from his time on the fringes at Chelsea, with the ace previously admitting he could “get into trouble” if he shared his thoughts on that situation.
As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: “If I say everything, maybe I will get into trouble, but it was tough. It was very tough to watch every single week, every weekend, the games on TV.”
West Ham have given him regular football and allowed him to remind the Premier League of his talent, but regardless, they should not get dragged into a costly bidding war.
While they would do well to hold talks over a permanent deal as soon as possible, he will not be the only centre-back on the market. Indeed, better deals are likely out there.
So, as much as Disasi would be a savvy signing next season, Nuno and the Hammers hierarchy should set a reasonable price and stick to it to avoid being ripped off.
