West Ham eye Callum Osmand as Championship transfer ploy becomes clear

West Ham United are reportedly showing an interest in Celtic striker Callum Osmand as this summer’s transfer ploy becomes clearer.

The Hammers are having to shop in a different market this summer on the back of last month’s relegation from the Premier League.

While the transfer window is not yet even open, there has already been plenty of talk regarding who will leave the London Stadium.

But there will also be plenty of incoming activity in the coming weeks, with Celtic gem Osmand the latest to be linked.

Ahead of the window opening in two weeks’ time, an update has now dropped on West Ham’s interest in the youngster.

Callum Osmand on West Ham’s radar weeks after Celtic drama

Osmand endured an injury-hit campaign last time out, but he still made his impact felt at Celtic Park as he scored a dramatic final-day goal.

The 20-year-old scored in injury time against Hearts to seal a 3-1 win for Celtic that sealed the title in the most dramatic fashion.

Osmand had earlier set up Daizen Maiden to put Celtic ahead in a game that captivated fans beyond Scotland.

That third goal sparked wild scenes as fans ran onto the field, forcing the referee to end the match slightly ahead of schedule.

According to ExWHUEmployee via the The West Ham Way Patreon, Osmand is a player West Ham like the look of and he’s on their radar.

Osmand may well have previously been known to West Ham, having come through the youth ranks at fellow London side Fulham.

The Wales age-grade international remains highly regarded at Celtic, despite seeing his maiden season in Glasgow curtailed by injury.

West Ham know the way to go with transfer business

A lot of West Ham’s transfer business depends on who leaves, of course, and it is likely those big-money deals will not happen swiftly.

For now, the Irons have to be smart with where they splash the cash. While it is not known how much Osmand will cost, it will surely not be much.

Fans will clamour for a 20-goal Championship striker to be signed, and that may well come with time.

But the Irons can only spend what they have, which means offloading players such as Mateus Fernandes first.

If Osmand is indeed on West Ham’s radar, then the early signs are promising.
