West Ham could revive Ricardo Pepi interest as Fulham move breaks down

West Ham United could revive their interest in PSV striker Ricardo Pepi as his move to Fulham looks to have broken down.

Marco Silva’s side were understood to have reached a £31million agreement to sign the American striker, but that is now in doubt.

The Athletic‘s Gregg O’Keeffe claimed on 23 March that the Cottagers had doubts about his medical, which has put the proposed summer move in limbo.

West Ham need reinforcements in their forward line, and Pepi would be a valuable addition given that he knows how to find the back of the net.

Why West Ham could still sign Pepi

West Ham were linked with Pepi in the winter window, but it looked like they were set to miss out on his signature, but they may be back in the race now.

The report mentions that other English clubs are monitoring the forward, who has 13 goals and two assists in 28 matches in all competitions this season.

Do West Ham need to sign Pepi?

The Hammers need a striker that is still abundantly clear as their current options are not up to the job.

Taty Castellanos and Pablo were signed in the winter, with the task of keeping the Irons in the top-flight, but those additions have not gone to plan so far.

The Argentine has notched two goals in the division, while the Brazilian has failed to find the back of the net in seven appearances.

How Pepi compares to West Ham’s current strikers.

Callum Wilson, who is Nuno Espirito Santo’s other main forward option has notched five goals, but he is not getting any younger and is injury-prone, so cannot be relied upon long-term.

Pepi would be a quality addition, as he has shown that he can be prolific in the Eredivisie and can also score in the Champions League.

He has five goals in Europe’s premier competition and 21 in the Dutch league in the past two seasons, so he is competent in front of goal.

There would be question marks over whether he could adapt to the English game, but given that he has notched in Europe, they should be relieved.
