West Ham could get Kevin Lomonaco transfer chance as £11.3m price set

West Ham United may get a chance to sign Kevin Lomonaco as the defender has reportedly indicated he wants to leave Independiente.

West Ham were credited with an interest in the 24-year-old as recently as the winter transfer window.

Lomonaco is under contract with Independiente until December 2028, but it has emerged he has a release clause of £11.3million in his contract.

That makes him an attainable target, but West Ham are not alone with their interest.

And as interest slowly starts to build ahead of the summer transfer window, more news has been shared on Lomonaco.

Crystal Palace also interested in Kevin Lomonaco transfer

Argentinian publication Boca Noticias reports that Boca Juniors are one of the clubs closer to home that are interested in Lomonaco.

The report credits West Ham and fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace with an interest in the former Argentina Under-17 international.

And it adds that Lomonaco has indicated he is ready to leave Independiente amid the growing interest.

While it is not clear how advanced West Ham’s interest is – or was – the report suggests that Boca could be the centre-back’s next destination.

Sevilla and Wolfsburg are two other European clubs that could move for Lomonaco, while Atletico Mineiro and Panathinaikos have already previously tried and failed with offers.

Why low-cost Lomonaco deal could make sense for West Ham

Lomonaco is not exactly a household name, but clearly he is doing something right to earn interest from European clubs – and indeed a couple of Premier League sides.

Aged 24, he is yet to enter his peak and is available for what is a very small fee in the current transfer climate.

However, as with any transfers when it comes to West Ham, David Sullivan and Co. will have to wait until the Hammers’ Premier League fate is known.

Staying up by any means necessary is all that matters for West Ham, before focus can then turn towards the summer and ultimately next season.

If the Hammers do stay up, it would make sense to target a player like Lomonaco who can be bought for cheap and would hopefully strengthen the first-team squad.
