West Ham United may be able to secure Charlie Cresswell as a replacement for Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The London Stadium star is reportedly eyeing an exit in the summer, after his stunning turnaround in fortunes.

Borussia Dortmund are understood to have swayed the Greek ace with their transfer pitch, which could lead to a transfer.

It would be a huge shame if Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side lost the 28-year-old but they may have a perfect replacement lined up already.

Toulouse’s club president revealed that the defender could leave in the summer, which could give West Ham a route to his signature.

Why West Ham have Cresswell encouragement

West Ham have been linked with a move for Cresswell in the past, and they could reignite their interest if Mavropanos leaves.

They would likely have a chance to sign the former Leeds academy man, after Olivier Cloarec spoke to RMC Sport on 20 April.

He said: “We’re in complete agreement [that summer sales will happen],”

The idea that Les Violets will be open to sales in the summer, presents an opportunity for the Irons to pounce.

How do Mavropanos and Cresswell compare?

Mavropanos has played 26 Premier League matches this season, while Cresswell has featured 26 times in Ligue 1.

The former has notched three goals, playing a key part in the East London side’s survival bid, with the latter also scoring three times.

Mavropanos has kept five clean sheets, making 1.3 tackles per game, 3.2 ball recoveries per game and 6.1 clearances per game, per Sofascore.

Meanwhile, Cresswell has helped the French side keep eight clean sheets, making 0.9 tackles per game, 2.5 ball recoveries and 6.2 clearances per game, not far off the Premier League ace.

The Hammers star wins 66.2 per cent of his ground duels and 66.3 per cent of his aerial duels, while the Toulouse ace wins 42.9 per cent and 65 per cent.

Cresswell is five years younger and has shown solid defensive stats this season at the Stadium de Toulouse, he would be an ideal replacement for the E20 outfit.

If they lose Mavropanos, all eggs should be placed in the basket to try and sign the 23-year-old, who is expected to be available when the transfer market reopens.
