West Ham: Callum Marshall’s contract examined ahead of return from Bochum
West Ham United allowed Callum Marshall to depart on loan to German side Bochum in January.
The 21-year-old had been included in the Hammers’ first team set-up to begin the campaign after impressing last season at Huddersfield Town.
After contributing to 14 goals for the League One outfit, he looked set to play a role in claret and blue.
Things didn’t really work out, and he ultimately moved to Germany with the hope of playing regular football elsewhere.
Marshall joined 2. Bundesliga side Bochum, and now we can assess his current deal at the London Stadium ahead of his return.

What is Callum Marshall’s contract situation at West Ham?
The forward was limited to just two first-team appearances in East London this campaign, so a move made total sense.
It hasn’t all been sunshine and rainbows after his move to Vonovia Ruhrstadion, following a lack of goal involvement as an attacking option.
| Stat (2. Bundesliga 25/26) | Callum Marshall |

There will have been higher expectations for the Northern Ireland international, even after taking a step up from England’s third tier.
The 2. Bundesliga season is now over and the striker is destined for a London Stadium return, where his future isn’t completely safe.
His current deal only runs until the summer of 2027, so in 12 months’ time, he will be out of contract and a free agent, if he doesn’t agree to new terms.
As part of his present arrangement, he is paid a reported £15,000 per week, equating to a yearly salary in the region of £780,000.
Marshall didn’t truly impress at Bochum, so with his contract situation being what it is, he could be living on borrowed time in claret and blue.
Marshall in last chance saloon at West Ham
There will be questions surrounding the 21-year-old moving into the summer as to where his future lies.
Things could be set to align perfectly for his development in E20 as he could be set to land a regular role if the Irons are relegated.
That is looking increasingly likely, and whatever manager comes in may look to utilise the Northern Irishman’s services in their squad.

If the Hammers do the unthinkable and remain in the Premier League, it could well prove to be the end of the road for Marshall.
The summer certainly looks set to be an interesting one for the forward, with plenty of outside factors set to have a telling impact on his career.
