Santiago Castro: West Ham have ‘financial strength’ to swoop for Bologna forward

Santiago Castro could be on the move out of Bologna in the summer, with West Ham United named as a side able to match the Serie A club’s demands.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been linked with plenty of forwards over the last few months, with goals at London Stadium hard to come by.

The arrivals of Pablo and Taty Castellanos are yet to bear the fruit expected, with just two goals between them since their moves.

Bologna’s Castro is now one of the players that looks to be on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer window.

Reports state that a transfer to West Ham could be on the cards, as the E20 outfit have the means to pay the required price.

How much do Bologna want for Santiago Castro?

Next season, Castro could be lining out in the Premier League in the claret and blue.

The Serie A striker has been impressing throughout the last few seasons in Italy and has now caught the eye of West Ham after scoring seven goals this season in the Italian top flight.

According to Tuttomercato in Italy, West Ham have “a financial strength that would easily match the Rossoblu’s demands” for the Argentinian forward.

The Hammers also face competition from Nottingham Forest, who are also said to hold the same advantage.

Of course, any move for Castro will likely depend on the Irons’ Premier League status. If relegated, it would be hard to picture the Hammers forking out £34.6million, which is the quoted price by Bologna.

This is not the first time the East London club has been linked to the Argentine, as last summer West Ham sent scouts to watch Castro.

At 21 years old, the Bologna man has plenty of time to continue to improve his game.

Who else have West Ham been linked with?

In terms of forward signings, West Ham could revive their Ricardo Pepi interest. The PSV attacker has had a move to Fulham break down in recent days.

Additionally, Joshua Zirkzee has been a name tipped to move to London Stadium. However, reports have since stated he wishes to return to Italy.

Chivas striker Armando Gonzalez is another that could make the switch to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Santiago Gimenez and Raul Jimenez remain linked with West Ham. Overall, it seems like Nuno has a well stocked shortlist heading into the summer.
