How long is Clayton’s extension at West Ham?

Clayton signed a two-year deal with West Ham in 2024, and he has agreed to extend his stay in East London.

The report states that he has signed a one-year deal that will keep him around until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The youngster is yet to make his first-team debut but has been part of squads for the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023, featuring on the bench against FCSB.

What has he said about West Ham?

He clearly loves being with the Hammers, and spoke about that after signing his first professional contract at 17 years old.

He said: “Coming through at West Ham, being a West Ham fan and coming over to Rush Green full-time is obviously a dream come true.

“Growing up, I’ve known nothing but West Ham. Having that moment and then kicking on and doing some of the special things I’ve done with this Club is amazing.”

That suggests that he would not be willing to leave the club in the near future, despite the short length of the deal that he has signed.

What are his future plans?

Clayton has already given a hint about what the future holds, claiming that he wants more of the experiences that he felt while he was at Braintree.

He said: “I’ve been on a short-term loan to Braintree, earlier this season. Same again, seeing your name on the back of a shirt, playing for survival in the National League, I even won a bottle of champagne as a Player of the Match award!

“It makes you want more of these experiences.”

That implies that he may seek a loan move away from E20 this summer, one that will perhaps convince the club that he deserves a longer deal.
