Oscar Mingueza could be on the move to the Premier League, with West Ham United now boosted in their efforts to sign the Spaniard.

Any move for the Celta Vigo defender will likely involve the Hammers maintaining their status as a top-flight outfit.

Mingueza has long been on the radar for the E20 outfit, originally being linked back in 2023. Interest returned towards the end of 2025, with links out of Spain emerging.

There has been plenty of interest elsewhere throughout the world of football for the La Liga star, including from Juventus.

However, ahead of West Ham’s summer transfer window, the Irons have been handed a timely boost.

How has West Ham been boosted in Oscar Mingueza chase?

The Hammers will need an overhaul if they are to stay up this season in order to avoid falling into the same situation next year.

The arrival of Mingueza would certainly be an excellent step towards that goal, and West Ham have been offered encouragement.

Estadio Deportivo has stated that the defender’s change of agent could result in him moving closer to a Premier League move, with his new agency said to have “a strong presence in England.”

With the Hammers holding interest in signing the versatile defender, that will certainly give them encouragement over landing a deal.

Juventus had attempted to sign the Spaniard in the winter window but had a £3.48million bid rejected, and Celta Vigo were looking to hold out for £8.7m.

Mingueza looks unlikely to sign a new contract, making a move for the defender on a free in the summer quite attractive.

The E20 outfit will have to be wary, as fellow English club Aston Villa are also looking to land his signature.

The arrival of Mingueza would be a shrewd signing for West Ham, particularly on a free transfer.

The defender is capable of playing all across the back line, with a mix of games at left and right-back this season.

Additionally, his most played role throughout his career has been at centre-back, and he could be a new Swiss Army knife in defence.

He could function wherever Nuno Espirito Santo requires him, and having players of that capability is worth targeting.

Hopefully the Hammers can stay up and secure the arrival of the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window.
