Mohamed Salah has announced that he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, which has cast doubt on West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen and his future in E20.

With 255 goals for the Reds in the space of nine years, Salah has taken the Premier League by storm over the past decade.

Liverpool’s third-highest scorer of all time will undoubtedly leave as one of their greatest players of all time, and most teams in England will be breathing a sigh of relief that they don’t have to face him again.

Even though West Ham may not be able to keep Bowen in the summer, Jamie O’Hara has dismissed the claim that Liverpool could buy him as a replacement for Salah.

Since joining the Hammers from Hull City in 2020, Bowen has played a huge part in keeping West Ham in the Premier League, guiding them to European finishes under David Moyes and winning them the Europa Conference League in 2022-23.

Despite registering 14 goal contributions in the top flight this season, the England international has cut a forlorn figure at times, and it’s clear that if West were to be relegated, then his spell in E20 could be over.

Therefore, Liverpool may potentially eye him up as a replacement for Salah, given his consistency in the Premier League for the East London outfit.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Wednesday, O’Hara said he does not Bowen is at Salah’s level.

He said: “Bowen and [Harry] Wilson are really good players, but they ain’t Salah. Come on. He’s irreplaceable.”

He is completely right, and given the fact that Bowen is 29 years old, it would seem unlikely for the Reds to target him in the transfer market.

However, even if the Reds don’t pursue the English winger, several other clubs in the top flight might, especially if the Hammers are relegated this season.

West Ham would find it so hard to replace Bowen’s quality

If Bowen were to leave, not only would West Ham need a new captain, but they’d face a huge task trying to replace his output.

With none of their strikers viewed as good enough by Nuno, Crysencio Summerville looks like the only player capable of stepping up in Bowen’s absence.

Bowen’s last-minute winner in the Conference League final will remain in the club’s history forever, and replacing his quality is near-impossible.

West Ham simply cannot afford to be relegated, unless they want to risk the long-term future of their captain.

If Bowen does leave in the summer, regardless of whether the Hammers stay in the top flight, then it will be a very painful loss in E20.

Especially if he moves to another Premier League side in Liverpool.
