West Ham United have been linked with a move for Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare.

Premier League survival will be the only thing on the mind of Nuno Espirito Santo and his West Ham side ahead of the final nine games of the season.

However, it won’t be long until their attention turns to the summer recruitment plans, regardless of which division they find themselves in.

West Ham have been linked with several stars already, including Sangare, and the stats showcase exactly why he would be the perfect addition for the Hammers.

What would Mamadou Sangare bring to West Ham?

First and foremost, physicality. And that has been lacking at West Ham.

While the Hammers have some very talented midfielders on their books, very few of them have the required level of physicality to give them the competitive edge in the Premier League.

Sangare would change that, as demonstrated by the fact that he has won a remarkable 151 duels this season, which is a stat bettered by only 1.9 per cent of players in Ligue 1.

As showcased by his Sofascore graphic below, Sangare also averages 7.33 ball recoveries per game, as well as 3.13 tackles per 90.

With two goals and two assists as well this campaign, the 23-year-old has also shown a willingness to contribute in the final third, which has again been lacking by several of the Irons’ midfield options this season.

Who would Sangare replace at West Ham?

That ultimately comes down to several factors.

If West Ham remain in the Premier League, then the likelihood is that they will be able to retain the services of Mateus Fernandes, who has been linked with an exit from the London Stadium.

Assuming that to be the case, then Tomas Soucek remains the most likely replacement given the role he plays in the side.

The Czech midfielder has provided some big moments in both penalty areas throughout his time at West Ham, but Sangare could be the perfect succession plan for him.
