Keiber Lamadrid’s West Ham contract situation examined after bizarre January transfer
Keiber Lamadrid was a surprise signing by West Ham United in the January transfer window.
The Venezuela international came in from Deportivo La Guaira in the winter as his addition caught many supporters off guard at the London Stadium.
The 22-year-old represented yet another attacking signing as Nuno Espirito Santo looked to refresh his forward line in East London.
He joined Pablo, Taty Castellanos and Adama Traore through the doors at Rush Green, but has hardly featured since coming in.
Lamadrid was certainly a strange signing for West Ham, and now West Ham Zone has rounded up what we know about his current deal.

What is Keiber Lamadrid’s contract situation?
The Irons were certainly in need of new forwards when the January window opened after a largely terrible first half of the campaign.
That hasn’t translated into any sort of game time for Lamadrid, who has been afforded just one senior appearance, away to Burton Albion in the FA Cup.
| Stat vs Burton Albion | Keiber Lamadrid |
| Minutes played | 72 |
| Pass accuracy (%) | 90 |
| Touches | 28 |
| Successful dribbles | 1 |
| Defensive contributions | 2 |
| Duels won | 2 |
The winger is certainly an unknown quantity and has no experience of European football, so throwing him in at the deep end was always going to be unlikely.
His lack of game time in Venezuela also hasn’t helped matters because he hadn’t played since early December when the Irons came knocking.
That only makes his move to E20 all the more confusing, as he has only joined on an initial loan from Venezuelan Super Cup holders Deportivo La Guaira.
The Hammers have an option to make the deal permanent when the summer window opens, having paid him a reported weekly salary of approximately £10,000.

His loan spell at the London Stadium could land him a total in the region of around £200,000, which isn’t bad considering his lack of minutes in claret and blue.
West Ham ultimately have the choice of a permanent deal for Lamadrid in one of the more bizarre deals in recent memory.
Will West Ham sign Lamadrid permanently?
It is almost impossible to totally understand why a 22-year-old was plucked out of South America after 14 goals in 107 appearances.
Either way, there is still some hope that the winger will do something of note in claret and blue, but that ultimately hinges on a permanent deal.
If the Hammers were strange enough to bring him in on a short-term loan, it feels likely they will complete the transfer once the window opens.
There is no logic to that thinking other than the fact that he had done nothing to deserve a Premier League move before, and they did it anyway.
Lamadrid may prove me wrong if he gets a permanent switch, but I just can’t see it ever working out.
