George Earthy: West Ham starlet’s future examined amid Bristol City loan struggles
George Earthy has struggled for gametime since rejoining Bristol City on loan from West Ham United.
The hopes were that Earthy would have a part to play at West Ham in the Premier League this season, having impressed at Ashton Gate in the previous campaign.
The 21-year-old played 40 times for Bristol City in all competitions last season, registering three goals and one assist.
However, after just one game with the Hammers in the Premier League, he was shipped back there on loan in January, where he has had a tough time of it.
West Ham have decisions to make on the future of several players, and having shown very little in his most recent loan spell, Earthy will be one of them.

What’s gone wrong for George Earthy at Bristol City?
Earthy has had an injury issue since his move back to Ashton Gate, though more often than not, he has been named in their matchday squad up until now
However, the midfielder has still started just two games in the three months he has been with the Robins, with just six Championship appearances in total.
| Championship | Earthy |
| Minutes played | 220 |
| Appearances | 6 |
| Starts | 2 |
He has been an unused substitute on five occasions already, which seems bizarre given the level of importance he held there just last season.
As showcased by his Sofascore graphic below, Earthy has actually shown some promise when he has had minutes, with his 87.4 per cent pass accuracy and 36 passes per game being the standout.

However, the longer his omission from the team goes on, the harder his development will be hit, casting doubt over his future at West Ham.
What’s next for Earthy?
Earthy is due to be out of contract in the summer at West Ham, with no indication yet as to whether his deal will be extended or not.
Though they do have a club option to extend by a year.
Much of it may depend on which division they are in, with relegation likely to see the Hammers give him a fair run in the team.
Should they avoid the drop, then it is unlikely that he will be handed a new deal, allowing him to find a new permanent club.
