What is Herrick’s contract situation at West Ham?
West Ham have tied several talents to new deals in recent weeks, but Herrick had already extended his contract with his boyhood club.
He has been at Rush Green since the age of six, and signed his first professional deal before the start of the 2023-24 season.
| Herrick’s stats in West Ham’s academy | Under-18s | Under-21s |
| Matches | 31 | 36 |
| Clean sheets | 8 | 10 |
| Goals conceded | 49 | 57 |
| Minutes played | 2,871 | 3,240 |
He then signed a longer contract in October 2024, committing his future to the Hammers until 2028 at the earliest.
Herrick’s rise to stardom so far examined
Herrick has risen up the ranks in the Irons’ youth system, featuring heavily as the academy side won the FA Youth Cup and the U18 Premier League South in the 2022-23 season.
He played 23 times for the Under-18’s in the 2023-24 campaign, representing England Under-18s in friendlies against France and Germany.
He was promoted to the Under-21s for the 2024-25 season, and was the only stopper nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award after keeping seven clean sheets.
He was capped five times by England’s Under-19s as the young Three Lions qualified for the UEFA U19 European Championships, but did not make an appearance at the tournament.
Herrick made 10 appearances for National League side Boreham Wood this season, before returning to E20 in October 2025, and playing a key part in the young Hammers’ run to the National League Cup final.
What’s next for Herrick and West Ham?
Herrick probably needs a full season away from the London Stadium on loan, to fully enhance his development.
That would help him learn the rigours that come with the professional game, and surely put him in a better place to try and make his way into the first team.
The future looks bright for the youngster if he continues on his current trajectory.
