Emmanuel Fernandez to West Ham United: Rangers willing to sell defender now

West Ham United are reportedly tracking Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez.

Nuno Espirito Santo is hoping his West Ham defence can continue being as watertight as they have been over the last couple of games, as the Hammers look to avoid suffering relegation to the Championship.

United recorded a superb 1-1 draw with Man City at the London Stadium on Saturday, moving them out of the relegation zone ahead of Nottingham Forest’s clash with Fulham on Sunday.

Regardless of what division they’re plying their trade in next season, a busy summer transfer window is expected at West Ham, and London Stadium chiefs appear to already be earmarking potential new signings.

West Ham tracking Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez

According to a report from journalist Alan Nixon via Patreon on Sunday, West Ham are monitoring the progress of Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez.

The 24-year-old has been one of the Gers’ standout players this season, and it’s claimed that the Hammers have been alerted to his exploits in Glasgow.

Nixon claims that Rangers would be willing to sell the centre-back at the right price this summer, for a player they only signed from Peterborough United in this season’s summer transfer window.

West Ham reportedly want Axel Disasi permanently this summer, but it appears that numerous additions to the centre-back department are being planned for West Ham for the 2026-27 season.

West Ham set to face stern Emmanuel Fernandez competition

However, if West Ham do indeed wish to secure Fernandez’s signature this summer, they may well have to fend off some major transfer rivals in the process.

A February 2026 report from All Nigeria Soccer claimed that Chelsea and Arsenal are both keeping tabs on Fernandez, ahead of possible summer swoops.

Meanwhile, it’s also claimed that German trio Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are all sweet on the Rangers star too, as are clubs from Italy’s Serie A.

Because of this, it looks likely that any realistic chance of West Ham signing Fernandez will depend on whether they stay in the Premier League or not.

The aforementioned report suggests that Fernandez has a preference on a move to Germany, so it remains to be seen whether West Ham or indeed any non-German clubs hold a live chance at signing him this summer.
