Crysencio Summerville is lined up for a West Ham United exit this summer, but recent form has shown his true colours.

The Dutchman was in fine form for the Hammers in the winter period, before he was given an injury setback that kept him out of crucial games.

It’s fair to say that Nuno Espirito Santo missed his winger during that period, but since his return, he’s done nothing but look like a passenger in most games.

If Jarrod Bowen isn’t on his A game, the Irons then look toothless in the final third, as nothing comes from the left flank.

Summerville’s sale could be a masterclass, especially after watching his terrible display in the 3-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday.

Summerville has blanked in six Premier League games since returning from an injury, and while you could say this halted his momentum, that shouldn’t matter.

The 24-year-old looked like West Ham’s best players during that period from January to March, but that’s the timeline that could see the Hammers rake it in this summer.

There was once a time when the thought of Summerville departing the London Stadium seemed soul-destroying, now it seems like a smart move to make.

Napoli have registered their interest in Summerville, but the winger could also make a totally ironic move to Tottenham, if the Lilywhites beat the Hammers in the fight to avoid relegation.

That looks like a possibility now, and while Spurs fans will laugh at West Ham supporters if they steal Summerville, the Hammers know the player better than anyone after watching him in the Premier League for two seasons.

He’s clearly a confident player, and when playing for a team that has expectations for success, that’s not going to cut it.

How much could West Ham realistically get for Summerville?

West Ham will have to sell most of, if not all of their big-named stars this summer, and Summerville is one of them, regardless of his purple patch issues.

The former Leeds United star has shown the London Stadium that he can only be good in spells, and that may have fooled Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Liverpool, who are also said to be monitoring his displays.

West Ham signed Summerville for £25million plus add-ons from Leeds, and they won’t have as much high ground when selling him this summer, if they are a Championship club.

However, a fee of £40m would be realistic, considering that’s what the Hammers had to pay to newly-relegated Southampton last summer for Mateus Fernandes.

There’s no reason why West Ham couldn’t use even a fraction of that £40m to find a younger replacement for the forward, who may even one day go on to be a consistent Premier League player.
