Axel Disasi holds all the cards in talks as West Ham seek permanent stay

Axel Disasi may have the final say as West Ham United will look to make his loan move from Chelsea permanent this summer.

The centre-back came to the London Stadium on deadline day to finalise his move to the Hammers, which will see him stay in E20 until the end of the season.

West Ham had to pay Chelsea a £2million loan fee for his services, as the Blues had no room for Disasi to get game time.

The Frenchman has become a fan favourite, despite only making eight appearances for the Irons so far, and they would like to keep him beyond this campaign.

West Ham have plans in place for Disasi, but even if they stay in the Premier League, signing him is not a guarantee.

Why Axel Disasi has the final say in West Ham talks

West Ham will only pursue Disasi if they avoid relegation, which right now is looking a likelihood.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo has the centre-half to thank, who has transformed the Hammers’ defence since his arrival.

Disasi in the PL with West Ham

There are unconfirmed rumours that the Irons tried to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent deal in the winter, but it was the player who opted against this deal.

However, one thing is certain, and that is how Disasi took his time deciding to join West Ham, as a host of other clubs were also interested.

Given his form for the Hammers, it would be no surprise to see some other sides sniffing around for his signature this summer, and it ultimately may be in the hands of the player.

After all, Disasi is looking head and shoulders above West Ham’s other centre-backs, and Nuno would be lucky to keep him.

West Ham have back-up option for Disasi

West Ham also tried to sign Atalanta defender Isak Hien in the winter before landing Disasi, as the former seemed to be the concrete target.

However, a failed attempt saw the Hammers put the foot on the gas for the Chelsea man, though they may not have taken their eyes of Hien.

The Serie A star is said to be happy with Atalanta right now, but if West Ham were to stay up, a move to the Premier League could look appealing for the Swedish international.
