Andy Robertson: Jarrod Bowen reacts to headline Liverpool exit announcement

Andy Robertson has confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool this summer, and West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen has been among the many reacting to the news.

Now 32, Robertson is out of contract this summer, and is now preparing to test the free agent market at the end of the season.

Signed by Liverpool all the way back in the summer of 2017, he moved to Anfield from Hull City off the back of a standout Premier League campaign for the Tigers.

Indeed, Hull were relegated from the top flight in 2016-17, but the left-back alongside Harry Maguire where arguably their two best players that year.

So, whilst West Ham prepare their summer transfer plans, Robertson will now already be eyeing up his next steps ahead of a crucial stage in his career.

Bowen could leave West Ham this summer, with the star forward potentially needing to make some big decisions on his own future given the predicament the Hammers find themselves in.

Indeed, if the Irons are relegated to the Championship this season, then the England international will surely be left with no real option but to leave the London Stadium.

Even if his heart urges him to stay, West Ham chiefs could be forced to take that option out of his hands due to the unsustainable nature of carrying a player like that into the second tier from a financial perspective.

That will all be decided soon enough, but what has already been is Roberton’s future at Liverpool, with the left-back taking to his Instagram account on Thursday to officially announce he’ll be leaving Anfield this summer.

“Saying goodbye to this club and the fans will be one of the hardest things I’ll ever do,” Robertson said.

“But there’ll be a time for that, for reflection and everything that comes with it – and that’s in May.

“Until then, it’s business as usual. I’ll give everything, every single day, right up to the final whistle. YNWA.”

Among a host of players reacting to his post was Bowen, displaying a clear sign of respect to the Liverpool legend, against whom he’s faced some excellent battles with down the years.

What is Bowen’s record against Robertson?

Having both been starring for their respective sides in the Premier League for many years now, Bowen and Robertson have crossed paths numerous times.

Indeed, as outlined by Transfermarkt, they’ve been on opposing sides 12 times in the Premier League when both have been on the pitch at the same time.

In that time, Bowen has only beaten Robertson once in a 3-2 win over Liverpool back in the 2020-21 season, with the Reds star winning 10 of their meetings, with one draw.

All together, they’ve shared a Premier League pitch for 685 minutes, but they may not share another, as West Ham and Liverpool don’t play again in the league this season.
