Alpha Toure is on the radar of West Ham United, but their prospective move could hit a roadblock.

The Irons are likely to require a much-needed rebuild no matter what league they fall into next season, with it now looking to be the Championship.

Players such as Mateus Fernandes are likely to move on, leaving the midfield area light and needing reinforcements.

Attracting players after relegation can prove difficult for many sides, and the Hammers will face that as well.

However, Toure is reportedly ready to make that transfer to West Ham despite being in the second tier, but interest elsewhere could halt a move.

What is the latest on Alpha Toure to West Ham?

West Ham look doomed for the Championship, unless a helping hand from Chelsea arrives ahead of the final day of the season.

However, Tottenham effectively needs just one point from their final two matches to stay up, with goal difference the likely decider if the tallies are level. Spurs are 13 goals to the good.

Dropping down a league would see an exodus of talent, and the Irons would need to replace quite a few, and Toure looks to be an option.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Toure is willing and “prepared to play in the Championship for the right team”.

West Ham have been chasing the midfielder for quite some time, with Anderlecht now threatening to enter the fray to snap up the Metz player.

The Belgian outfit is reportedly willing to cough up £6million to secure the deal with the Irons having to match the offer.

Reports suggested previously that West Ham had agreed a deal for Toure already.

Should West Ham push for Alpha Toure after Anderlecht interest?

West Ham are now in danger of losing out on a player they have been tracking for a considerable period of time.

Toure is clearly well-liked by the hierarchy at London Stadium.

Data suggests that the 20-year-old is a strong duel-winning midfield player, winning 52.9 per cent of his ground duels this campaign in Ligue 1.

He is also fairly safe in possession, losing the ball just 5.7 times per match. In contrast, Mateus Fernandes comes in at 9.2 in that area.

Toure profiles as a conservative deep-lying midfielder and would thrive in a side that retains plenty of possession.

If the Irons are to be relegated, with West Ham’s chances looking likely, he could be the ideal recruitment for a Championship side looking to finish in the top two next campaign.

Fans would expect the Hammers to be a team that dominates a majority of their matches. West Ham must now allow Anderlecht to hijack this deal.
