West Ham vs Arsenal unseen moments: Declan Rice reception and Tomas Soucek fury

West Ham United suffered a cruel 1-0 defeat against Arsenal.

Arsenal needed a win to remain in the driving seat for the title, while West Ham needed a win to boost their chances of survival, though it was the visitors who took their chance.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game, just minutes after Mateus Fernandes missed a superb chance in front of goal.

Ultimately, the only thing that matters is the scoreline, which the Hammers were on the wrong end of.

West Ham’s survival chances have taken a big hit as a result, with several things having gone unnoticed in their latest defeat.

Declan Rice gets a not-so-warm reception from West Ham fans

Declan Rice was a hero throughout his time with the Hammers, and his role in their European success will never be forgotten.

However, neither will his decision to leave the London Stadium in favour of a move to Arsenal back in 2023.

And that was demonstarted by the reception he received from the Hammers supporters, who made their feelings clear at the start of the game, and throughout it.

Rice was the subject of boos from the home supporters every time he touched the ball, though it’s fair to say that he was completely unfazed.

Tomas Soucek was furious with Myles Lewis-Skelly

Arsenal dominated the opening stages, but West Ham started to grow into the game after Ben White was withdrawn due to injury.

But with their growth into the game came a series of hard challenges, one of which involved Tomas Soucek and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Soucek was late to the ball, and certainly caught the Arsenal star, who rolled around the floor in what appeared to be agonising pain.

The West Ham midfielder wasn’t having any of it and was seen sharing some stern words with the teenager for his reaction to the challenge.

Via Sky Sports, Gary Neville claimed that he was “lucky to get away without a booking.”

Nuno Espirito Santo disposes of Arsenal bottle

Arsenal’s title race is certain to go down to the wire, and their defeat to Man City in April sparked plenty of nerves.

One fan went viral at the Etihad after he was pictured drinking water from an Arsenal-branded bottle, which needs no explanation.

While it’s fair to assume that the fan was not in attendance at the London Stadium, the Arsenal-branded bottle certainly was, and it was thrown onto the touchline right in front of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Sky Sports aired some very brief footage at half-time of the West Ham manager picking the bottle up and disposing of it.

A sense of irony about it with the Gunners taking all three points.
