West Ham United: Simon Jordan makes new U-turn after what he’s seen at London Stadium

West Ham United got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Friday as they dismantled Wolves 4-0 at the London Stadium.

The Irons were in desperate need of a response after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Leeds the week prior, and they most certainly delivered that.

Taty Castellanos and Kostas Mavropanos scored a brace apiece, easing nerves after a far-from-ideal opening period, where the basement dwellers took the ascendancy.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have turned their fortunes around, and now find themselves back out of the bottom three, with Tottenham taking their place after a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.

Looking back at the weekend, Simon Jordan is of the belief that the Hammers have well and truly turned a corner and now carry the momentum, despite saying they would go down.

Simon Jordan believes psychological battle has been won for West Ham

Having taken over in East London at the end of September, it took Nuno a while to fully implement his ideas at West Ham.

Though wins against Queens Park Rangers and Spurs in January completely changed the atmosphere at the London Stadium, which now sees the Irons out of the drop zone.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Jordan said: “My belief was that West Ham would run out of momentum, but when you go and beat Wolves 4-0, you keep the momentum going.”

Falling to a defeat against Aston Villa on the eve of the international break, the Hammers were back in Premier League action for the first time in almost three weeks, and Jordan now believes that the only way is up from here.

“The belief will be in West Ham,” he added. “They’re out of the bottom three, and the psychological battle will have been laid down for them.

“They took some time to get themselves together, but now they are as together as they have been for some time,” he concluded.

Following the rout against Wolves, Nuno’s side turn their attentions to a big clash away at Crystal Palace, where they will look to keep up the momentum and streak away from the drop zone.

Nuno Espirito Santo has instilled a fantastic attitude at West Ham

Looking back at the season as a whole, the turnaround at West Ham since the start of 2026 has been fantastic.

Quite coincidentally, it was Friday’s opponents, Wolves, who dispatched the Irons 3-0 at Molineux in early January, picking up their first win of the season in the process.

Further down the line, a 4-0 scoreline against the same opposition is the result that signifies just how remarkable the change in attitude has been, and that itself comes straight from the head coach.

Throughout his time in English football, Nuno has become adored by the respective fanbases at both Wolves and Nottingham Forest, with the same never-say-die attitude now seen at West Ham, dragging both clubs to Europe.

Even in games that are either not going the way of the Irons or matches in which the football on show is not the most free-flowing, they are finding ways to pick up results.

At this stage, you never quite feel that the Hammers are ever ‘out’ of a match, and that is a testament to Nuno and the work he has done.

Moving forward, West Ham have the crucial momentum that could guide them to safety.
