West Ham have positive omen as recent London derby record emerges ahead of Brentford
West Ham United compete in many London derbies over the course of a season due to the sheer amount of capital-based clubs in the top flight.
In total, there are seven Premier League outfits, including the Hammers that hail from London.
Derby games always bring about a more fiery atmosphere and match, and the fact the Irons play in so many means fixtures are often intense.
However, this season, the Irons have not been so great in these matchups and have struggled to bring home results.
But, ahead of West Ham’s game versus Brentford, a recently emerging trend could bring about some positivity.

What is West Ham’s record in London derby games this season?
Throughout this season, the Hammers have competed in 10 all-London affairs and have struggled to come out on top in most of them.
The Irons have lost 70 per cent of the London derbies competed in this Premier League season, which could throw a spanner in the works of their relegation fight.
| West Ham in London derbies this season | Total |
| Played | 10 |
| Points-per-game | 0.7 |
| Biggest win | 1-2 vs Tottenham |
| Biggest loss | 1-5 vs Chelsea |
Their record currently stands at two wins, one draw and seven losses.
However, West Ham’s form has turned a corner, and that has been evident in the recent results. While they lost seven, they are unbeaten in the last three.
That has seen a run of games where the Irons drew against Crystal Palace while defeating both Tottenham and Fulham. It is a positive omen.
After facing Brentford, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have yet another derby, as Arsenal travel to London Stadium. The E20 outfit will hope to enter that game with a four-game unbeaten London derby streak.
Their position in the Premier League table requires them to fork out massive results between now and the end of the current season.

Nuno knows how to beat Brentford
This season, Nuno has already beaten Brentford on two occasions. The first came on the opening day of the campaign, when he was still at Nottingham Forest, with the second arriving in the FA Cup on penalties.
While West Ham’s London derby record is not pretty to see, the record against the Bees from their manager could provide a boost.
Keith Andrews is still a young manager, and despite him impressing in the dugout this season, Nuno has a vastly larger closet of experience.
Hopefully success will land on the Claret and Blue side of London this weekend, as the Hammers simply need it to.
