West Ham United will need Jarrod Bowen to end his drought against Newcastle this weekend.

The Hammers could see their relegation confirmed this weekend if they suffer defeat against Newcastle, though that will also require Tottenham to win away to Chelsea.

Given Newcastle’s form and the fact that they have nothing left to play for, West Ham will be quietly optimistic that they can take the relegation battle to the last game of the season.

Had it not been for Bowen, the Irons’ relegation would have been confirmed a long time ago, with the 29-year-old having scored eight goals and registered 10 assists this season.

However, Bowen’s record against Newcastle is a concern ahead of this weekend’s clash, and it is the perfect time for it to change.

Bowen is often the player that West Ham look towards for a moment of quality in the final third to win them a game.

But against Newcastle, that has very rarely been the case.

Bowen has played 12 times against Newcastle in his career, with just three wins to his name in that period.

However, the biggest concern in that regard is his goalscoring record in these encounters, with the Englishman having scored just once in those 12 games.

That was back in 2024 when the Hammers fell to a 4-3 defeat at St James’ Park.

Bowen has managed five assists against the North East outfit, but he will simply have to find a way to rectify his goalscoring record if the Hammers are to secure victory.

West Ham simply can’t afford to drop any more points in these final two games, though Opta expects them to do so against Newcastle.

The Hammers have been awarded a 30.5 per cent chance of victory against Eddie Howe’s side, who have a 45.5 per cent chance of taking all three points.

If that were to happen, it would be a long wait to Tuesday night, when Tottenham could relegate West Ham with a win.
