Konstantinos Mavropanos completes his West Ham comeback vs Wolves, nobody saw it coming
Konstantinos Mavropanos has gone from villain to hero for West Ham United, with his performance against Wolves this Friday proving a comeback is now complete.
The Hammers thumped Wolves 4-0 at the London Stadium, as Mavropanos bagged a brace in what was a Man of the Match performance.
The defender has gone from being a criticised man to one of the first players down on Nuno Espirito Santo‘s teamsheet, with the victory crucial for hopes of Premier League survival.
Nuno has stuck by the Greek star through thick and thin, and is now being given rewards, in what was arguably his best performance since arriving in E20.
Mavropanos has the chance to become a West Ham hero if he helps the Irons stay in the top-flight, as his comeback at the London Stadium is now complete.

Axel Disasi is the reason for Konstantinos Mavropanos’ comeback
Many would say that they have always seen the potential in Mavropanos, but never got to witness it on a consistent basis.
West Ham’s defence in general has been missing something for the past few seasons, and while Mavropanos has looked good in spells, he has missed a high-quality player next to him.

The winter arrival of Axel Disasi has shifted the momentum at the London Stadium, as the on-loan Chelsea star has had an effect on multiple areas.
One part of the Hammers that he’s instantly upgraded is obviously the defence, with Mavropanos now showing his best version of himself.

The 28-year-old has formed a solid partnership with Disasi over the last couple of weeks, and it’s one that could still improve before the end of the campaign.
Nuno has found his defence vs Wolves; here’s why
The defence that Nuno deployed against Wolves should be the one that takes the Hammers into their last batch of Premier League games.
You have the experience and leadership of Kyle Walker-Peters in there, with Disasi and Mavropanos two rock-solid centre-halves, before looking at an energetic and creative Malick Diouf over on the left.
- West Ham are now 17th in the Premier League
- Tottenham have slipped into 18th on 30 points
- Spurs play Sunderland away from home on Sunday
Mavropanos deserves his flowers because it’s quite easy for players to crumble under the pressure of what’s at stake, but he has shown up when it mattered most.
The balance is there, and credit to Nuno for finding it; let’s just hope that it’s not been discovered too late in the season.
