Joe Cole amazed by ‘incredible’ Mads Hermansen scenes in West Ham vs Manchester City

Joe Cole was full of praise for Mads Hermansen in West Ham‘s 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.

The Hammers took a vital point in the survival race, which got them out of the relegation zone for the first time since 3 December.

Hermansen played a key part in that, with some vital saves and a general command of the area that was crucial for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

West Ham now need to push on and ensure that they stay in the Premier League, and the 25-year-old will be a key part in that.

What did Cole say about Hermansen?

Hermansen has had a tough start with the Hammers since his summer move from Leicester, but he has finally earned the starting jersey.

His save from Erling Haaland as City were pushing for a winner summed up why it is the right move, and Cole could not believe it.

Speaking on TNT Sports (21:04 pm), he said: “What a save, from Haaland’s perspective, from a man who is not scoring goals at the moment, he did everything right.

“Hermansen, that is an incredible save.”

How Hermansen performed against Man City

The turnaround in the Dane’s form is unbelievable, when he first signed, he looked shot on confidence, and it seemed like yet another mistake from David Sullivan in the transfer market.

However, Hermansen was absolutely fantastic in the Irons’ draw with Pep Guardiola’s side, and he proved why the East London side were willing to pay around £20million for his services.

He made five saves in the contest, per Sofascore, but could not add to his three clean sheets in the last five league matches that he came in with.

The 25-year-old prevented an expected goals margin of 0.81, firmly keeping his side in the game when Haaland and Co. were pressing for a winner.

He also made two high claims, 10 ball recoveries, and completed 69 per cent of his passes, in an assured display.

Cole’s praise is well deserved, it was an incredible display from the ex-Brondby man, and if he can carry on his current level, it could be the difference when it comes to survival.

His recent run will give him a huge confidence boost, and hopefully he can keep turning up for the E20 side and show why they brought him in.
