Clinton Morrison makes ‘never seen’ London Stadium atmosphere claim during West Ham vs Leeds

Clinton Morrison was amazed by the atmosphere at the London Stadium during West Ham United‘s FA Cup clash against Leeds United this Sunday.

The Hammers hosted Leeds on their own patch this weekend, in hopes of winning the FA Cup Quarter-final for a chance of a trip to Wembley.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side fell behind first in the game, with Ao Tanaka’s deflected strike looping over Alphonse Areola’s reach and into the net.

West Ham will be looking for a response in the second 45, and considering the noise around the ground, that may be possible.

The London Stadium has been toxic in recent years, but Morrison’s claim may just prove that there’s hope for an improvement in E20.

Clinton Morrison says never seen London Stadium ‘so packed’

There have been protests at the London Stadium this season, as David Sullivan could lead the Hammers into the Championship.

However, Nuno is doing his best job to give supporters belief in Premier League survival as well as an FA Cup run.

Unfortunately for the Irons, the atmosphere created by both sets of fans didn’t work in their favour during the first 45.

While speaking live on BBC Radio 5 Live, Morrison revealed his disbelief at the London Stadium’s atmosphere during the first half, right before Leeds hit the front.

Morrison said: “What an atmosphere. I’ve been here many times, and I’ve never seen it this packed with an atmosphere we’re seeing this afternoon, so you know it’s a big game.”

Leeds look in control despite the loud West Ham fans, who can help orchestrate a comeback in the second 45.

Alphonse Areola has been let down by teammates

West Ham were given warning signs from the first minute, as Alphonse Areola was forced into making a big save.

Even though the Hammers also tested Lucas Perri in Leeds’ goal, too many efforts were being allowed at Areola.

The Frenchman made multiple big saves to keep the Irons in the game, and without him, the clash could have been written off by halftime.

Areola made three saves by the break and prevented 1.20 in terms of goals, despite having already conceded.

Let’s hope the shot-stopper gets the credit he deserves after a potential second-half West Ham comeback.
