West Ham: Nuno Espirito Santo drops Crysencio Summerville news fans have been waiting for

West Ham United fans have been given the update they have been waiting for regarding Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutch winger has played an integral role throughout the Hammers’ uptick in form since the turn of the year.

Firing Nuno Espirito Santo’s side up the table almost singlehandedly at times, Summerville has become a talismanic figure at the London Stadium.

His importance has been highlighted further over the last month, with the Irons winless since he sustained a calf injury in the FA Cup win against Brentford.

After the international break and the recent FA Cup quarter-final, West Ham are back involved in league action for the first time in three weeks, and they may finally have Summerville available once again as they take on Wolves.

Big West Ham injury update dropped ahead of crucial Wolves clash

Signing for the club in 2024, it took the 24-year-old a while to get up to speed in East London, with his form hardly helped by the poor managerial stints of Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter.

Though he has completely exploded under Nuno in 2026, with the wideman being the driving force behind the charge to escape the drop zone.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Friday’s clash with Wolves, Hammers boss Nuno provided the update that supporters have been waiting for since his absence was confirmed last month.

“Summerville is improving,” said the Portuguese coach.

“Him, Todibo and Wilson are improving. We are positive that they can be available against Wolves,” he added.

Alongside this, Nuno also confirmed that Kostas Mavropanos will be ready for the Wolves test after suffering a head injury while out on international duty with Greece.

West Ham fans will feel survival charge is back on

Despite the huge uptick in both performances and results this calendar year, West Ham remain in the bottom three.

Aided by the international break, Summerville has only missed two Premier League matches – a draw and loss against Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Though he has still been sorely missed, emphasising the seismic impact highlighted in the graphic provided by Sofascore below.

With pace to burn, non-stop energy, and the ability to drive with the ball so effortlessly, Summerville has been a real difference maker for the Irons.

Suiting Nuno’s transitional style perfectly, he has become a real talisman and the driving force behind the ongoing survival push.

While Wolves may come too soon to throw him back into the starting lineup, things are beginning to look up for West Ham once again after stuttering either side of the international break.
