West Ham Women’s relegation chances assessed after needed victory over Everton
West Ham Women finally managed to pick up their first victory in the WSL1 season on Sunday as they overcame Everton 3-1.
It was a long time coming for the Hammers, who were winless in their eight previous league matches this campaign before the victory.
The decision to renew Rehanne Skinner’s contract at West Ham in April continued to look more insane as relegation seems to be a real possibility this season.
However, the win has now seen the East London club move two points clear of the relegation playoff zone as they look to maintain their top-flight status.
Bottom-place finish still expected for West Ham Women
While West Ham did manage to bring in players like Sarah Brasero in the summer. Overall, their business was poor, and now they look likely to pay the price.
Opta continues to favour the East London club to finish bottom of the table, qualifying them for a spot in the relegation playoff.
The supercomputer believes there is a 41.48 per cent chance of this happening, with current bottom side Liverpool the second favourite at 25.67 per cent.
With West Ham reportedly in talks to sell a share in the women’s team, it remains to be seen if this impacts the negotiations.

Currently, the Hammers are top of their group and are guaranteed to finish here no matter what happens in their trip to Pompey on 23 November.
