West Ham Women Expert wants Olli Harder to experiment in clash v Chichester

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

Michelle Irons wants Olli Harder to experiment with his starting line-up when West Ham take on Chichester & Selsey in the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday.

Chichester, who play in the FA Women’s National League, beat Leyton Orient in the last round of the competition to set up a trip to Victoria Road this weekend.

Whoever wins will take on either Manchester City or Aston Villa in the next round.

West Ham Women expert Michelle Irons is delighted with the draw as it hands Harder a chance to see what some of his fringe players can offer ahead of a WSL run-in where the Hammers will aim to avoid relegation.

She wants to see Nor Mustafa, Maisey Barker, Mayumi Pacheco and Emily Ramsey all get a shot on Sunday.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, she said: “I’m happy with that, it’s that’s probably the best draw we could have got in the early stages. It’s always nice to play teams from the lower leagues and with an added bonus of being at home too.

“I’m looking forward to this tie as the cup is always special and you never know – we could go all the way!

“I’d like to see the manager play a couple of the so-called fringe players Nor Mustafa, Maisey Barker, Mayumi Pacheco and Emily Ramsey.

“I would say Olli is as capable as anyone in terms of the cup competition it’s one game at a time.

“Once again it’s such a shame fans won’t be present but hopefully that won’t be too far off now.”

West Ham signed goalkeeper Ramsey on loan from Manchester United last month so she’s yet to earn a minute of game-time in East London.

Mustafa and Barker haven’t started in the WSL this term, appearing just 10 times off the bench between them.

Pacheco has played more often, featuring seven times in the starting line-up in the WSL this season. However, she’s not started since the 1-0 defeat to Brighton on February 10.
