West Ham Women Expert thrilled with move to sign Claudia Walker from Birmingham

We’re delighted to welcome Michelle Irons as our exclusive West Ham Women’s expert. Each week she’ll be giving her views on the biggest talking points at Victoria Road…

Claudia Walker will be a good signing for West Ham United, claims women’s football expert Michelle Irons.

West Ham are close to securing the signing of the striker from Birmingham City, per a report in The Daily Telegraph.

It’s reported that the London outfit fought off interest from at least two other Women’s Super League clubs to get the deal over the line.

Michelle Irons, who has watched a lot of the player, is delighted to see West Ham signing her.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, she said, “I’m really happy about this, she’s a brilliant player.

“She had a really good season with Birmingham and played really well against us.

“Walker is exactly who we need up front and likely to be the replacement for Martha Thomas.

“Most fans I’ve spoken to are happy with this too!”

Good signing

This is a very good piece of business from us and we’re glad that we could beat two other WSL clubs in order to secure her services.

She’s an impressive striker with previously WSL experience and is guaranteed to get us a few goals.

Walker was one of Birmingham’s top performers last season having scored five goals in 21 league appearances.

We finished ninth in the table last season, so it’s imperative we bring players like Walker to the club as her presence is undoubtedly going to give us a better chance at finishing higher up.

She comes with previous experience of representing Everton and Liverpool, and at 24, she’s still got a long way to go in her professional career.

In other West Ham Women news, Michelle Irons is baffled by the news of Jack Sullivan’s exit.
