Karren Brady thrilled with ‘huge’ West Ham Women announcement
West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has congratulated Anouk Denton after she was named in Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses squad.
West Ham Women re-signed Denton from the Louisville Cardinals in 2023, who has since become an asset for Rehanne Skinner.
The Irons have had a difficult start to the season despite their most recent WSL fixture against Everton ending in a 3-1 win.
As a result, West Ham Women’s relegation from the WSL is becoming an increasingly likely possibility.
Despite this, Wiegman seems to have appreciated Denton’s performances for her club this period.

Anouk Denton to take part in first England camp
Brady will probably be thinking twice about the decision to renew Skinner’s contract at West Ham Women, given their start to the season.
However, Denton has certainly made an impression and is now set to return to the Lionesses senior squad and take part in her first full England camp this upcoming November international break.
Brady, clearly thrilled by the news, took to her Instagram stories on 18 November to congratulate the defender.
Tagging the England international, she wrote: “Huge congratulations on your well-deserved call-up!”

While West Ham Women continues to struggle in the WSL, based on her recent performances, Denton’s call-up is thoroughly deserved.
How has Anouk Denton performed for West Ham Women this season?
While West Ham signed players like Sarah Brasero over the summer, it has been a tough season for them to navigate. Despite this, Denton has been a shining light.
The England international has put in a defensive shift:
- Denton has recovered 6.2 balls per game
- She has made 2.9 tackles
- The defender has also made 2.2 clearances
Furthermore, Denton has made 1.7 interceptions and has only been dribbled past 1.6 times per game, according to Sofascore.
She has also been effective in her duels in the WSL this period.
Indeed, Denton has won 62 per cent of her ground duels, 43 per cent of her aerial duels and 60 per cent of her total duels this season. She also has a 72 per cent dribble success rate.
Her attacking stats haven’t been too shabby either, netting one goal from 0.4 total shots which equates to a 25 per cent goal conversion rate.
She has also completed 80 per cent of her passes and registers around 0.6 key passes per game.
Thus, it is not difficult to understand why her performances this season have caught Wiegman’s eye.
