David Moyes must reward ‘superb’ West Ham sensation Josh Ajala after what he did on Tuesday

David Moyes could leave West Ham United with a parting gift by handing Josh Ajala some first-team minutes at the London Stadium.

It has already been confirmed that Moyes will be leaving West Ham at the end of the season.

It has been a miserable few months for the Hammers and it looks as if Moyes’ time with the club will sadly end on a sour note.

After all of the success he has experienced in East London, the 61-year-old will be keen to make sure he offers supporters something to be optimistic about ahead of the Julen Lopetegui era getting underway.

Luckily for the Scot, he has the opportunity to do exactly that by handing Under-18 sensation Ajala some first-team minutes between now and the end of the season.

David Moyes must hand Josh Ajala a first-team opportunity at West Ham United

West Ham are five points behind Manchester United and Chelsea with just two games to play, and a fourth consecutive season in Europe now seems to be out of the equation.

With very little to play for in the club’s final two matches of the season, Moyes should consider throwing Ajala in at the deep end before saying goodbye on Sunday 19 May.

Ajala has been on fire for the club’s Under-18s, bagging a “superb” hattrick in a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace’s Under-18s on Tuesday 7 May, which secured second place in the Under-18 Premier League (West Ham Official X, 7 May).

The 17-year-old has scored 14 times and provided one assist in 23 appearances for the Under-18s, while he has also already made six outings at Under-21 level.

The forward looks destined for big things, and handing him the opportunity to demonstrate that at first-team level might be the perfect way for Moyes to salvage this season and say goodbye.

Showing West Ham supporters a glimpse into the future could offer them a much-needed lift, and if Ajala does go on to achieve great things, Moyes will be remembered as the manager who handed him his first-team debut.

That would be a much more favourable note to end his time with the club on, rather than dragging the team across the line to a mid-table finish.
