Wolves set new price tag for Max Kilman amid intense West Ham United transfer talk
West Ham United have been told to come up with £50million if they are to prise Max Kilman away from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to HITC.
Graeme Bailey reported on 18 June that Wolves have set that hefty price tag for the centre-back in response to West Ham’s long-standing interest of over 12 months, having previously been quoted around £45m [Daily Mail, 12 June].
Kilman previously worked under Julen Lopetegui at Molineux, which makes the increased eagerness to sign him little surprise.
The report also points out how Kilman’s new long-term contract, signed last year, puts Wolves in a strong position to command a hefty fee.
West Ham United chase defensive recruits amid Max Kilman interest
West Ham’s pursuit of Kilman makes sense but whether the club are willing to part with £50m to bring the 27-year-old to East London is another matter.
Under the direction of Tim Steidten, the Hammers’ recruitment process this summer has shown they are not shy of splashing the cash, with teenage Brazilian Luis Guilherme’s arrival confirmed last week.
Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is also a new name on the club’s radar with several in the position departing the London Stadium this summer, and he could be a cheaper alternative.

Brazil defender Fabricio Bruno was an early target during Steidten’s visit to the nation earlier this month, but the move broke down on the cusp of completion citing family concerns and possible wage demands.
To sign Kilman in the prime of his career and grant the player his first-ever transfer between two professional clubs would be an almighty statement of intent from West Ham in their quest for a successful new chapter – albeit an expensive one.
In other West Ham news, a player could be set for an exit to his former club.
