Wolves identify replacement for Max Kilman as West Ham United close in on transfer
Wolves have identified Feyenoord defender Thomas Beelen as a replacement for Max Kilman should he join West Ham, according to 1908.
Writing on their official X account (18 June), the Dutch news outlet report that Gary O’Neil’s side wants to sign the 23-year-old after the Hammers made contact about signing their skipper [Fabrizio Romano, 18 June].
Julen Lopetegui wants to be reunited with Kilman at the London Stadium as he looks to strengthen his defensive options, and Wolves have begun to make tentative plans to replace him which suggests an exit could happen.
West Ham United to sign Max Kilman from Wolves?
Defensive reinforcements are more than necessary this summer for the Hammers, and Lopetegui is keen to bring some familiarity into the squad.
Wolves are likely to demand a big fee for their captain but with Kurt Zouma allowed to move on, question marks about the future of Nayef Aguerd [Hakim Zhouri, 11 May] and Angelo Ogbonna already departing it may be necessary to pay up.
There have also been links to Riccardo Calafiori [The Athletic, 18 June] and Mats Hummels [HITC, 16 June] at centre-back so it’s a priority position that the club are targeting in the summer window.
And they can take some positivity from this development as Wolves wouldn’t be looking at potential replacements if they didn’t feel that a deal was possible.
West Ham needs to make their interest concrete and make a genuine bid to test the waters and there could be movement on this in the coming days and weeks.
In other West Ham news, the club have made a move to sign a former Tottenham star on a free transfer.
