West Ham United can move closer to bringing Axel Disasi back from Chelsea this summer.

The Frenchman made a telling difference after coming in on loan in January.

He formed a formidable centre-back pairing with Konstantinos Mavropanos at the London Stadium.

It wasn't enough to keep the Hammers in the Premier League as he waved goodbye to E20 after relegation.

The 28-year-old has since been linked with a return, as he continues to be an outcast at Chelsea.

West Ham continue to eye a move for Disasi and they could now take a step closer to making it happen.

The Irons look set to start the Championship campaign with Mavropanos and Max Kilman in the heart of defence.

The latter certainly hasn't covered himself in glory at the London Stadium, so finding an alternative may be wise.

Disasi could prove to be exactly that has he remains a target for Nuno Espirito Santo and Co.

Crystal Palace have also shown a keen interest but are currently unwilling to match Chelsea's demands.
