Why West Ham have fresh Wilson Isidor hope with new Sunderland transfer stance
West Ham United had appeared to have lost hope of signing Wilson Isidor this summer.
The 25-year-old striker has been strongly linked with a move to West Ham over recent weeks.
Nuno Espirito Santo will want to bolster his forward line before the window shuts, but as of yet hasn't been able to make any new attacking additions.
Isidor scored 13 goals in 46 Championship appearances for Sunderland in 2024-25, but hasn't quite been able to make the step up to Premier League level.
With funds available to spend following numerous big-money exits on top of parachute payments, many Hammers fans will be expecting their team to enjoy an aggressive final few weeks of recruitment this summer.
If that's to be the case, then a new development regarding Isidor's future could spring the Irons into transfer action.
How much Sunderland set to reject for West Ham-linked Wilson Isidor
Earlier this month, West Ham Zone covered reports claiming that Sunderland wouldn't be selling Isidor this summer.
That seemed to have put a pin in any Hammers hopes of signing the Haiti international, but all may not be lost after all.
In an X post late on Friday evening, Italian-based Sky Sport transfer and Gianluca Di Marzio team reporter Luca Bendoni has claimed that Hull City have tabled an offer of around £10million plus add-ons for Isidor.
Whilst Bendoni states that the Black Cats are expected to reject this approach, Sunderland would in fact be willing to let him leave so long as the price is right, and only if they can get a replacement for him sorted.
So, whilst it comes with a slight catch, this fresh development is sure to reinstall West Ham confidence of being able to sign Isidor this summer if they really want him.
But what is his contract situation like at the Stadium of Light, and does it work for or against the Hammers?
Why Sunderland may be wise to sell Isidor now
Currently, Isidor's stock remains fairly high after a World Cup campaign in which he scored for Haiti against Morocco, as well as not being long removed from his impressive 2024-25 season.
That could change quickly, however, if Sunderland decide to keep him for another season and he again struggles to find form in the Premier League.
Indeed, he scored just six times in 32 top-flight outings in 2025-26, and that will be some form of concern for West Ham regarding whether he would be a signing with simply helping them get promoted in mind.
Sunderland may not have a better chance to get more money for Isidor than this summer either, as he's only contracted on Wearside until June 2028.
With less than two years left on his deal, the Black Cats could still be tempted to cash in if the Hammers present a fair offer for him.
