How Sunderland feel about selling Wilson Isidor to West Ham revealed

West Ham United have been linked with a move for Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor in recent days.

The 25-year-old is back on Wearside after returning from this summer's World Cup, in which he represented Haiti in all three of their group stage games.

He even netted in their 4-2 defeat to Morocco in the final group stage match, etching himself into Haitian footballing history as a result.

Whilst performing on world football's biggest stage this summer, talk of his club future with Sunderland rumbled on, as question marks remained over his role in Regis Le Bris' plans.

The Black Cats enjoyed a superb first season back in the Premier League last term, finishing seventh and qualifying for Europa League football.

But with Isidor having only started 11 league games last year, the forward has been strongly linked with being a transfer casualty at the Stadium of Light, and West Ham have been touted as a potential destination for him.

It's no secret that Nuno Espirito Santo would love to sign a new striker this summer, and irons will be in the fire to try and make that happen.

With massive cash injections through the Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville sales, many Hammers fans are now anticipating a busy final few weeks of the transfer window.

Many Irons supporters would no doubt have been thrilled to see Isidor arriving at the London Stadium, having proven himself to be a quality striker at Championship level with Sunderland in 2024-25.

Unfortunately though, it no longer appears as though West Ham, nor indeed any other club, will be securing his signature this summer.

That's because Sky Sports News' North East reporter Keith Downie has posted to his X account claiming that Sunderland won't be selling Isidor this summer.

A number of teams are said to have been keen on him, with Downie explicitly naming West Ham as being particularly sweet on the Sunderland man.

But Downie's post claims that he's been informed that the Black Cats won't be picking up the phone for any offers this summer, and that Isidor remains a big part of Le Bris' squad ahead of the new season.

So, just how good was Isidor during his lone season in the Championship, and does it suggest that West Ham will be bitterly disappointed to miss out on the Haitian?

Where Isidor led his Championship rivals in 2024-25

Isidor may have only netted a modest 13 goals in 43 regular season Championship appearances in 2024-25, but that doesn't tell the full story of his impact that year.

Sunderland would finish fourth and ultimately win promotion back to the Premier League via a play-off final win over Sheffield United.

As per FotMob, no Championship player in Isidor's position put more shots on target that term than his 41.

He also ranked amongst the very top-performing strikers for his 95 shots on goal, nine big chances created, 21 successful dribbles and 159 touches in the opposition box.

In short, Isidor was a real handful for Championship defences that season, and looks every bit of the kind of player who could score 20-plus goals spearheading West Ham's promotion charge in 2026-27.

That, however, we will now likely never know for certain.
